To conclude stuff i will miss about third year….firstly Jenny! You have to admire the fact that she can take any kind of chair and propell it to the other side of the room with sheer will in all seriousness though Jenny you will be missed, the course won’t be the same without her!…….what else…….emmmmmm ah yes, i will as will all of us miss video production with MR Garret “the leg end” Daly!! You very welcome to this weeks blog. Unfortunately as it is now my turn to man the ship it will not be as an enthralling voyage as previous endeavors. Ye see the simple fact of the matter is that I forgot all about this god forsaken blog until late last night. And due to a recent spout of late nights out I seem to have misplaced my talking communication instrument.

These two facts combined resulted in disaster. Firstly, I was under the illusion that it was required of me to gather entries from all students in my class to complete this blog. So because most of my contact numbers are on my phone I could only reach two compadres about the whole thing. Then when I get into college today I realize I can’t get onto gmail to download the poxy articles anyway. So a lot of frustration involved. But it gets better. When I actually do arrive into class and confess my sins my lecturer tells me that it actually is not essential that other students contribute to my blog. Oh the embarrassment of it all, I feel so humiliated, I am no thing.

Right I don’t really know where to go from here. I stayed up very late last night. My script was chosen for video production and we’ll be shooting next Thursday. Happy with the people on my team but I was up till all hours story boarding the thing (hence my lack of memory when it came to this thing today!). Can’t tell yiz any more you have to wait for the grand screening.

Yeah so I have my fathers lap top with me today. My computer is fecked but he has been kind enough to allow me to borrow is from time to time. Couldn’t find any decent photos on it apart from the two below.

Yup, it’s finally my time to shine. This week I’m the official manager of the blog.

I Luvs Him I Do.

Before the reader becomes somewhat dismayed at the prospect of another convoluted and laborious read, let it be stated that this week’s column will be short and sweet.

I would like to speak about a man. A man I love.

I do not know him intimately nor do I intend to but all the same I love him. I love the way he talks, I love what he talks about and I love his perspective towards the television and radio industry.

Yes you’ve guessed it folks; the man of my platonic desire is of course none other than Garret Daly, lecturer of Television and Radio Production at IT Tallaght and the Tsar of Mixed Bag Media. Garret talk’s sense, Garret bends the rules and Garret engages students. I am not alone in my affection towards this man as it is a feeling shared by other students alike. If there is ever confusion over a topic of any sort one can always rely on his brilliant communication skills to clear up any misunderstandings. Garret’s approach is one of pure excellence, no nonsense, straight talking and to the point.

This is why I love a man.

He certainly put it how everyone else feels, didn’t he? Except the other class – the jealous guys. Garret is nothing short of a legend.

By the time you read this (coz your totally gonna read this)i will be in LONDON!!!I am 21 years old this saturday…Everyone say Awe….and to celebrate i’m feckin off to London for the weekend….i mean for feck sake it’s bloody snowing again!!last time it snowed this far into spring i was 7 and pissed coz i wasn’t allowed to ride my new bike!

But enough about me!!I wanna tell you all (yes all of you who are undoubtedly reading this magnificent blog) about a wonderful Japenese super hero i recently discovered called RAPEMAN!!!! Who’s super power is to deal out justice to villans with his super raping powers….Not only was he a Manga comic but also a cartoon series and even 6 live action movies have been made about RAPEMAN!! Don’t believe me…….Wikipedia it!!In the comics he wore noting but a giant penis mask!

This week was a creative week both college wise and home wise.  I had to do a script and pitch my short film for tv production.  Lots of creativity there.  Still on edge wondering weather or not my proposal will get picked.

Also due to unemployment and extreme boredom I changed a room in my house into a home cinema type of thing.  Got a big projector and connected up to the laptop and our PA system.  The screen size is about 6ft tall and 8ft wide.  Its pretty sweet.  Iv just been watching films illegally on the internet all week, thus at the same time becoming more and more creative for college purposes.  It’s a win win situation.  Next is to connect the PS3 up to it, that will be nice, extra nice in fact.  Here is how I hope my home cinema will look like in the following few weeks, its just a rough sketch.

So all round it was a very creative week.  From playing gigs to writing scripts to watching films.

A word about some delicious food from Sean:

The above qoute was taken off of Wikipedia and as you can see it make an explicit example that a pie which only has pastry placed on top of the pie has to be marked as such. no doubt if you went into a restaurant and ordered a shepperds pie for example and you recieved a bowl of the mince and gravy with a side dish of potatoe not even hitlers chef would call that a sheppards pie. Pie term discrimination has to stop! Viva la revolution!

Next, I’m gonna talk about Lorcan and Stephen’s new love affair. Everyone seems to think that there are sparks flying and whatnot, but I hadn’t got a clue what they were talking about… until the other day in the canteen when one said to the other something along the lines of… “you don’t worry you’re tight little ass…”. TRUE STORY. Nuff said.

Heading back into the studio with my band OBCD at the end of this month for the first time in about 3 years. Could be a bit rusty considering we avnt played together as a band in bout 5 months.But hopefully by the end of March we should have a brand new 2 track demo decent enough to send out. The best part about the whole scenario is that its free. 2 mates are doing a sound engineering course and wanted to use us for their portfolio. its a kick up the arse to actually get something done with the songs we have.

Next, it’s more of an advertising plug. Conor Lenihan’s band, Legacy Traits play Eamonn Dorans on Tuesday the 10^th of March, with support from Kate’s band Technical Sole, and none other than my band also. We don’t have a name but for the gig and having to come up with a name on the spot we are called The Attic. Yes. The Attic. Ha feckin ha. 2 other bands will also be there, so come show your support, although this plug is totally pointless because if I know our year, only me and Conor will show up. Cheers lads.

This week we were discussing short films and animations for our advanced media writing class so I searched the Irish film board to find some good short films to watch to help me with my TV proposal and script for media writing I found a great website

With some really great little short films that were quite simple yet entertaining and i found it really helped with creating my script for media writing. One in particular was starless night, A cat who’s in love with the stars becomes very sad when they suddenly disappear one night. Fortunately, her canine friend comes up with a plan to make the night sky shine for her once more!

Well, I suppose I’ll talk about Berlin for a while. Great place – cheap, everything is really cheap. Everyone should have gone. I don’t have any pictures right now but maybe in the next few weeks I might. However, we had our fair share of fights, and a few scares.

One of these “scares” was (and I’m not gonna name any names) COLM running halfway across Berlin in his little red jacket after drinking 7 cocktails in about 40 minutes. And do you know how strong cocktails are in Berlin? Ask Karen, she had one with her salt and chips. Anyways, me and Conor looked for Dadclothes for about 2 hours while the rest were off worrying in a pub. Eventually we gave up, all met up and went home.

Where was Dadclothes? Lying in his bed, after telling us he lost his keys. Everyone flipped. And when he woke up – he had no recollection of ANY of it. Crazy Clare bastard.

One more thing… Is anyone else excited about Michael Jackson???

The night opens with The Game. A play about Life versus Death and how they role their dice to decide the fates of the Poet and the Dancer.

This is then followed be The Innocence of The Country which is about farmers from Kerry, and the dirty minds of the city folk!

Requiem was performed two years ago by the society under the direction of fellow AV head (or CDM if you prefer) Sarah Lonsdale who also directed last year’s production “When Sorrows Come”. She enlisted Leigh Harbourne and yours truely, who were also in last year’s production, to once again don the roles of the dead guys friend and the dead guys girlfriend, and playing the part of the priest was Dammy, giving his first ever stage performance, but not his last!

If you haven’t gone to see it then you only have Friday and Saturday night left to do so. All three plays are really different so you’re bound to enjoy at least one! Tickets are 5 euro for a student, or 10 euro otherwise and performances start at 8:15.

It was with great anticipation and determination that we first launched our initial assault on the withering housing market. The climate was right; that economic spot of bother had taken place and as a result we had found ourselves an unwilling and reluctant ally. We had endured hardship when others had prospered, but now we were on the verge of actually sitting down and eating that carvery instead of constant salivation when walking by the Sea Bank House. We had fire in our bellies and the plan of attack was clear, secure the most spacious and structurally sound living quarters for the least amount of bread as possible.  

With two weeks remaining in the drab and dreary surroundings of the top half of 19 Church Road, we began perusing the cybernetic holy grail of house hunting known as Daft.ie. Within days we were viewing houses and apartments in the locality but nothing seemed to suffice. However, as the ancient mantra states “failure to give up is never an option!”

So onward we struggled through the greasy fingers of greedy landlords and slimy estate agents hungry to pounce on those who don’t watch the news and have little sense.

Then suddenly, while attending to my reconnaissance duties, I spied a target of perfect   proportions and of an extremely pleasing price. My spine stiffened with a glad resolution and it tingled majestically at the obvious fact that this was indeed the commode that we had been procrastinating about, our land of milk and honey. With a reactive burst of nervous energy I launched the computers mouse upon my purpose. A number was retrieved, a phone call was made and a date was set for our initial encounter.

The experience of viewing this behemoth of desire actually wiped out all memories I might have ordinarily formed prior to the viewing. She was indeed many times lovelier than the computer pixels had portrayed during my exhaustive reconnaissance. We marvelled at her brocaded pillars and cathedral like windows that promised golden shafts of morning light where we would breakfast. Thick brick walls separated each large bedroom (although they may be esteemed, it is essential that a flat mate’s business is his own, alone or with company). The most stylish kitchen work tops gladly heralded the prospect of culinary delights. Multiple power points promised untold riches in the field of entertainment systems. And although the reader may now be forgiven for thinking I have lost my wherewithal, there it was I swear it, a feature of water in the garden that was lit by lights when the sun went down. Ours was the world, and everything in it.

Now, here we are. And when we encounter each other in the hall and main room, we issue forth the universal statement – “This is a rapid gaff”…
